Hey Gullfriend...

Hello!

I'm back on the Bellariffic blog and I hope you are ready to hit the beach with another summer themed Scenic Saturday card. For my card today I've used a mash-up of some of the adorable Beach Bundle Girls including, Beach Bundle Girl Mermaid's Gift, Beach Bundle Girl with a Seagull and Beach Bundle Girl with a Floatie. 

I started with the newest addition to the Beach Bundle Girl line-up, Beach Bundle Girl Mermaid's Gift. The original image includes a mermaid down in the water but I wanted this Bundle Girl to be joined by some different friend this time around, I I only inked up the standing Bundle Girl. Next, I added the seagull from the Beach Bundle Girl with a Seagull set and inked up only the top half of the gull so that it would look like it was floating in the water rather than walking. Finally, I stamped in the funny gull from the Beach Bundle Girl with a Floatie set for an extra touch of whimsy. With all of the characters in place I proceeded to color them into very shallow water by starting with some light sandy colors at the bottom of the card in an organic pattern that mimics the look of rippling water. I then started bringing in the light blues of the water, going right over the sandy bottom. The blue hues get darker as the water moves off into the distance and gets deeper. A little spit of land with a couple of palm trees blowing in the breeze and this sunny summer card was almost complete. All I needed to add was a sentiment from the Beach Vibes Sentiment set up in the sky that plays right into this scene full of cute seagulls. :)
