Scare up some fun...

Hello again!

It's a review weekend at Sweet November and I have wanted to stamp up the cute Pins and Needles voodoo doll again ever since I came across these messy stitches border stamps in my crafty stash. As soon as I saw them I knew that they would create a fun frame that matched back to her own sloppy stitching. I stamped them in classic Halloween colors and then pulled all of the Copic combos to match. If you would like to watch this one come together there is a quick Reel over on my Instagram and a longer speed coloring will be added to the Sweet November Stamps YouTube channel

The Halloween fun will continue with my Live this morning at 11am PDT over on the Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page. I hope you can join me!  :)

Later gators!

Obstinate, headstrong girl...

Hello there!

I'm on the Blogabella with a new Scenic Saturday post today. This week I've had fun mixing and matching some old with the new on my card, pairing the lovely yet headstrong Oddball Jane Austen with the Bella Cottage from the latest release.

I'm sure that it is no surprise to any of you that I am always especially excited when new background stamps are added to the store. They are always designed to work perfectly with any of the various character collections available at Stamping Bella, which makes them extremely versatile. As soon as I got the Bella Cottage in my hands I knew that it would make for the quintessential country cottage in Oddball Jane Austen's idyllic world. So I stamped and masked off Jane before stamping the cottage right over top of her at about waist height. When you are trying to create a sense of distance and perspective with your background stamps, the higher up you place them on the card front, the further away from the character they will appear to be. Conversely, the lower you stamp the background image, the closer it will appear to be. So if I had stamped the cottage right at Jane's feet, the perspective would make it look more like a child's play house rather than an actual place for her to call home. Once the mask was removed, I could then use my Copic markers to to draw in a meandering path from the front door to Jane at the front of the card, reinforcing the sense of distance that I wanted to create between her and the cottage. The color palette is soft and rather muted as I was going for the look of a grey, drizzly day with the potential for rain. The end result is a charming scene worthy of one of Jane Austen's novels.  ;)

Stay crafty my friends!

Hip, hip, hooray...

TGIF!

The big anniversary sale starts today at Purple Onion Designs and most everything in the store is 25% OFF for the next couple weeks. That even includes the Chilliezgraphy by Pei Summer Fun collection, which this cute Let's Celebrate image is part of. These sweet animal friends are gathered together to help their friend celebrate their special day and I've paired them with the older Room Background to give them the perfect party space for that. The colors are bright and cheery throughout the scene, while the animals themselves are all sporting various shades of grey tones to really make them stand out against the colorful backdrop. The sentiment is from The Great Outdoors Sentiment set and that was really all I needed to complete this happy scene.

Now be sure to head on over to the Purple Onion store because now is the perfect time to stock up on some super cute stamps for the upcoming holiday season and beyond. :)

Toodles!

It's o-fish-ally your birthday...

Hey there!

So yesterday I said that I was sharing my last mermaid card of the year and then I found this card that I hadn't posted yet. And while it technically has some mermaid silhouettes from The Deep: Background Builder set, it's still the cute marine life from the Something's Fishy set that are the real stars of the show, so I don't feel like a complete liar, LOL! This is another card design that I made a handful of for Sweet November Stamps orders. The die is from The Stamp Market and I like how it gives you four large 'postage stamps' to build your scenes in. All of the little fish were stamped and colored first, then I masked them off, as well as the edges of each postage stamp, and used the Copic airbrush system to add the water. Before removing the masks I also stamped the mermaid silhouettes and bubbles in a darker blue green ink so that they look far off in the distance. The final finishing touches are the sentiment and the large postal cancellation stamps that I added in dark black ink to create a nice visual triangle that leads your eye throughout the scene. :)

Laters!

Bubbles of fun...

Olo!

I found one last mermaid card sitting on my hard drive waiting to be shared, so here it is before the days of August come to an end. I made this back in May and it was another simple design that I made multiples of to fill orders for Sweet November. I had just gotten the Deckle Frame dies from Mama Elephant and I loved how the smallest die was a tag shape, which totally inspired the layout design for this card. I stamped one of the cute Merwees from the Merwee Party set on the first tag then added a few of the critters from the Something's Fishy set on the other tags. The bubbles in the background and the sentiment are all from The Deep: Background Builder set. A wash of simple sand and sea colors across all three tags brought them all together then all that was left to do was add some jute twine to the top and line them up across the card stock base, which I had stamped with a large splatter stamp to make it look sandy. Another quick and cute design that was a lot of fun to put together.  :)

Otterly amazing...

Hey there!

I've got a lot on my plate today so I'm popping in real quick with a quickie card that I actually made multiples of earlier this summer. I stamped the cute little swimming otter from the Tide Pool Pals set behind the rocks that are also found in that same set. Because I placed them low on that small die cut panel it gives those tide pool rocks a whole different look. This also left room for most of the panel to be filled with blue sky and sea, which really cut down on coloring time. The sea gull silhouettes are from the Seaside Cliffs Background Builder and they add just the right amount of balance to the otter below. The handy dandy wave stencil from Simon Says was used on the light blue card base along with the Copic airbrush system so that this clean and simple design would be a bit more interesting.

Okay folks, I'm outta here... have a good one!

Another batch of Halloween cookies...

Good morning!

I'm back with a few more cards using the new Halloween Cookies digital collection at Sweet November Stamps. Between all five sets there are 18 individual cookies to mix and match as well as a pumpkin shaped cookie jar and these are some of the spookiest sweets that you have ever seen.

For my first card I've put the werewolf, full moon and half moon cookies inside the pumpkin cookie jar, because you've gotta have a moon to bring out the werewolves, right? LOL! This time around I gave the glass cookie jar a hint of color but still kept the overall look fairly transparent. A simple black and white tablecloth for it to sit on and a subtle texture background stamp create a simple background for these howling good treats!

Next, I paired up two spooktacular ghost cookies with the older Alphabet cookies and the baking sheet for this yummy scenario. Just like with the skeletons the other day, I colored these into delicious chocolate cookies and boy do they have my mouth watering.

Finally the cauldron, witch and broom were all brought together on the cooling rack along with the Alphabet cookies for the card that I colored during my Saturday Live over on the Adventures in Coloring with Amy Facebook page. As you can see, we added a lot of bright fun colors to pop against the light grey wood countertop... creating a finished look that is quite bewitching.  ;)

Hope you have a wonderful week!
