I’m back on the Hello Bluebird blog with one more card featuring the new Sun, Sand and Surf kit to share. The kit has been selling out quickly so I wanted to highlight the Beach Friends again since they are still available in the Classic Kit... plus, they are just so darn cute! So let's hit the beach and join the fun that these friends are having. The idea for this scene began with the sand castle, so I stamped and masked it before stamping the sweet hippo on the left and the adorable sea turtle on the right using Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I then masked them before adding the darling elephant in the center. The plastic shovel and pail and a few sea shells were then sprinkled in to flesh out the scene. As the masks were removed I was left with this wonderful sense of depth and dimension where these three are circled around that sand castle. Now it was time to start coloring them, the beach and sea by hand using my Copic markers. When it was time to add the sky I masked off the seagull and the entire scene taking up the bottom half of the card before laying down the die cut clouds from the Beach Umbrella die and using them as masks when spraying the blue sky around them with the Copic airbrush system. While I still had the Copic airbrush system out on my desk I went ahead and added a soft green blend to the Tropical Leaves dies that I had cut out to decorate the Gallery Frame #4. I had fun layering the leaves over and under the bottom of the frame to really build up the lush tropical look of this card. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of white card stock using a light blue ink that matched back to the sky and the frame and was placed over the leaves using foam adhesive to give it some lift. A touch of Ranger Glossy Accents on the sunglasses, pail and shovel to give them some shine and another super cute card from the Sun, Sand and Surf kit was done.  :)
